Conscious awareness is the ability to be present in both your outer surroundings and your inner world. It reflects the stillness within your words, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions. It means you’re aware of your own patterns, conditioning, pain, and triggers, and can communicate openly about your feelings and needs.
Many of us don’t tap into our consciousness because we were never made aware of it. Maybe growing up there was a lack of emotional intelligence and connection, or emotional repression. Often, there are expectations of how to behave in society, and we play along. There’s plenty of propaganda to keep us distracted from the powerful energy we have access to. Bringing more conscious awareness to your life requires effort, but it is easier than you might think. Here are a few ways to get started.
Notice Your Feelings
Noticing your feelings helps to dissipate energy that gets stuck when we hold on to emotions rather than letting them work through us. The more we can notice our feelings, the more aware we will become when we are triggered and start reacting on autopilot.
Those knee-jerk reactions (like cursing obscenities at the car that cut you off) are unconscious reactions that the body has been conditioned to use. Noticing how you feel in these types of experiences provides a pathway for healing the underlying pattern.
Awareness is what sets the healing process in motion and starts the journey to freedom. Becoming aware of your feelings will also provide insight into how your thoughts, words, actions, and beliefs are all interconnected.
Be Present
The present moment is often overlooked as just a means to an end. We’re always trying to be somewhere other than this very moment. The to-do list, ruminating about the past, worrying about the future, and numbing are all ways we run from the present. Sometimes it’s conscious, many times it’s not.
We’ve been conditioned to be anywhere other than here, but the present is where the power is. When we consciously choose to be in the moment, suddenly there’s plenty of time. The inspiration, motivation, and clarity all show up. We feel peace, joy, and satisfaction. There’s no space for these things if we clutter ourselves with busyness and distraction.
Being present means being aware of your thoughts and triggers. It means choosing your words from a space of neutrality, not judgment. The present requires you to stop and smell the roses – without guilt. And enjoy it.
Release Judgment
Everything is neutral, after all, and it’s our human nature to label and judge things to fit into our belief system. By releasing judgment, you become conscious of your patterns and projections. Judgment helps us discern what we like and don’t like, but it also causes us to shut out information, people, and lessons if we’re too attached to our beliefs.
Loosening our grip on what we judge allows us to step out of our conditioning and into a space of openness. Here, we have the ability to question our thoughts and beliefs to understand why we’re projecting such intense emotions about another person, thing, idea, or experience.
Think about something that you pass deep judgment on. Ask yourself why. Where did you learn this belief? How is it serving you? Who would you be if you let it go?
What if you could consciously take control of your life by bringing a new perspective into your awareness? A conscious outlook on life allows you to master your mindset, regulate your nervous system, heal your past, be who you were always meant to be, and manifest the life you’ve dreamed of living.
Bringing more conscious awareness to your life doesn’t require a huge overhaul; it starts with the decision to be more aware of yourself. Once you commit yourself, energy begins to shift. When you want to see more of your inner workings, you will be able to recognize them and call them out for what they are. Remember, you can’t address anything you haven’t acknowledged is there.
