Naturopathic medicine as primary health care emphasizes prevention and self-healing through the use of natural therapies. Naturopathic doctors are primary care physicians, licensed to practice in Connecticut, who blend centuries-old knowledge, a philosophy that nature is the most effective healer, and current research on health and human systems. They have attended a four-year naturopathic medical school, are clinically trained, and work in all aspects of family health – from pediatric to geriatric care.
Naturopathic diagnosis focuses on identifying underlying causes of disease, and therapies are supported by research drawn from peer-reviewed journals from many disciplines, including naturopathic medicine, conventional medicine, European complementary medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, psychology, and spirituality.
Kathleen Cannon, ND
As a naturopathic physician, my practice is grounded in compassionate, conscientious, and exceptional care for individuals experiencing chronic conditions as well as those who want to level up their health. I offer in-depth naturopathic consults, genomics assessment, and HeartMath
biofeedback sessions. I also have functional medicine training and am a lifelong learner, always seeking new information to support my patients.
I believe deeply in the healing ability that is innate in all of us. Through healing myself from my own health crisis in my mid-twenties, I saw how natural interventions can allow for so much healing. Amazed, I left a job in financial services, returned to school to complete pre-med studies, and then went on to naturopathic medical school, all to share the power that natural support can provide for healing and greater health.
I am grateful to practice in a field with amazing colleagues, and I’ve been able to study and clinically train with incredible doctors. My practice is a unique combination of whole-person medicine, genomics, blood type support, mental/emotional tools, emerging research in functional medicine, and a whole lot of heart-centered care.
When patients come in for their follow-up, they not only tell me how much better they’re feeling, and we see that reflected in lab results, but they also have that special glow that only comes from truly improving their health!
I practice virtually and in person at Dr. Katie Wellness Insights, a wonderful collaborative integrative medicine group. Visit my website for more details.

Dr. Sara B. Frawley, ND, Willowbrook Health Center
Founded by Dr. Sara B. Frawley, ND, Willowbrook Health Center offers a number of healing modalities, including naturopathic medicine, chiropractic medicine, personalized nutrition, acupuncture, energy healing, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, and infrared sauna treatments. We strive to provide a holistic approach to healthcare, a one-stop shop that treats the whole person and addresses the root causes of illnesses at an affordable rate. Dr. Frawley is in-network with most major insurances and Husky.
My background in organic chemistry allows me to use an analytical approach to disease states. I practice the art of naturopathic medicine by addressing the root cause of your illness. I’m not just swapping out pharmaceuticals for herbs or vice versa. Together, we determine the underlying reasons that brought you into our office to begin with.
My passion for naturopathic medicine comes from wanting to help people truly heal, not just by putting a Band-Aid on something. Watching people grow, change, and live healthier lives is what drives me every day. I always joke that if I’m doing my job correctly, you won’t have to see me anymore. I love that moment when a patient feels completely better and is truly healed. At that point, I can tell them to call me if they need me and to go live their lives to the fullest!

Dr. Katy Firisin, ND, MSPT, Coastal Natural Medicine, LLC
Hope. Naturopathic medicine provides tools that restore hope. The foundations of naturopathic medicine lie in the belief that the body has an innate wisdom that will move in the direction of healing if given the right conditions. When patients feel well, they have an opportunity to reach their highest potential.
After many years working in a conventional medical field, I could see that patients needed more. With the help of my amazing mentors, I was able to eliminate medications and restore my health. Reversing PCOS and hypothyroidism and restoring my quality of life with chronic Lyme and autoimmune disease was a miracle.
When healing encompasses not only the physical symptoms but also creates spiritual and emotional shifts, it is inspirational. When a patient tells me she decided to quit her job and start her own business, or someone overcomes severe anxiety and depression, gaining clarity to embrace gender transition – these are the things that make naturopathic medicine unique.
Coastal Naturopathic Medicine is a premiere naturopathic practice serving Fairfield County, the tri-state area, and patients from all over the world. My mission is rooted in fundamental naturopathic principles where each patient receives individualized care, emphasizing removing obstacles to healing, giving the body what it needs, and stimulating the body’s ability to heal itself. Continuing to find ways to reach more people, bring naturopathic medicine to the community, and expand the modalities I offer are all things I hope to accomplish in my practice.
I am so grateful to those in the community who have supported me, embraced my new practice, and voted for me for 10BEST. Natural Nutmeg brings light and focus to real, accurate, and useful information to those looking for an alternative to conventional wisdom related to health and healing. I am honored to be a part of a publication and grateful for those who supported me in the 10BEST.

Dr. Lindsay Ronshagen, ND, Good Medicine Naturopathic Health Center
At Good Medicine Naturopathic Health Center, we specialize in solving complex digestive and hormonal issues – helping those who have struggled to find answers with conventional care. If bloating, fatigue, hormone imbalances, or gut discomfort are disrupting your life, we provide root-cause solutions that bring real, lasting change. With in-office visits for Connecticut residents and virtual consultations worldwide, we make expert care accessible wherever you are. I once even led a Naturopaths Without Borders team through remote villages in India, studying Ayurveda and homeopathy while delivering essential healthcare!
I know firsthand the frustration of chronic digestive issues and the lack of answers in mainstream medicine. That journey led me to become an expert in functional digestive and hormonal health, earning my degree from the National University of Natural Medicine and completing an accredited residency at the University of Bridgeport. I later served as a clinical supervisor and professor of Endocrinology, mentoring future naturopathic doctors. Beyond treating symptoms, my mission is to empower people to reclaim their vitality and create a ripple effect of positive change.
One of my most rewarding cases was a client who had spent years searching for relief with no progress. Through functional testing and personalized strategies, we completely transformed her digestion – restoring her energy, confidence, and presence in her family’s life. These transformations fuel my passion daily.
Exciting news – we’re expanding to a brand-new location in Branford this spring/summer! This growth will allow us to offer acupuncture and group programs both in person and online.

Dr. Nina Manipon, ND, Revitalize Wellness Center
As the owner of Revitalize Wellness Center, my mission is to empower patients in their journey to optimal health, especially those with gastrointestinal and autoimmune challenges. My path to naturopathic medicine was deeply personal – after graduating from Villanova University and working at GE and in technology services, I felt unfulfilled. Losing my mother to colon cancer when I was sixteen, and then losing my father soon after that, changed everything. I knew there had to be a better way to make healthcare compassionate, dignified, and patient-centered.
Struggling with digestive issues during this time, I experienced the frustration of mainstream medicine’s focus on symptoms rather than root causes. This experience led me to Sonoran University of Health Sciences, where I earned my doctorate and completed a teaching residency at the University of Bridgeport’s Naturopathic Clinic. I currently serve as a board member of the CT Naturopathic Physicians Association and am pursuing my Vitalist Certification from the Naturopathic Medicine Institute.
My passion is helping others reclaim their health through personalized, holistic approaches – nutrition, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and functional lab analysis. I created The Grace Method in honor of my incredible mom, Grace. It is a program designed for high-performing women seeking balance, clarity, and lasting wellness with expert guidance and accountability.
Alongside homeschooling my children, I am creating educational programs to help our community achieve better health. I treasure quality time with my husband, preparing nourishing meals, and escaping to tropical destinations like Aruba!
Healing is personal, and I am honored to guide patients on their path to vibrant health.

Dr. Korene Varano, ND, FABNO, RN, Limbitless Wholistic Health, LLC, at Roots Medical Center
At twelve years old, I was given a 50/50 chance of surviving bone cancer. I beat the odds after finding naturopathic medicine and incorporating its therapeutic modalities with my conventional therapies. That is when I knew I wanted to study naturopathic oncology and dedicate my life to researching ways to enhance conventional cancer therapies and target cancer cells with naturopathic modalities. In adulthood, I chose leg amputation after multiple failed attempts at limb salvage surgeries. Being an athlete and living an active lifestyle was not conducive to femur transplants. This was the driving influence in developing Limbitless Wholistic Health, LLC.
I’m Dr. Korene Varano, ND, FABNO, RN, a licensed naturopathic doctor, Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology, and registered nurse in Connecticut. I have worked in oncology healthcare for twenty-two years and it is my goal to build hope, strength, and courage with each patient and family member I encounter. I offer education and research information to help empower my patients to make informed healthcare decisions for their individual health needs. My offerings include:
- Oncology-focused, comprehensive consultations with a therapeutic plan, either in-office or via telemedicine
- Second opinion consultation via telemedicine
- Evidence-based supplement plans and individualized nutrition planning
- Research evidence-based therapies including colon hydrotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV nutrient infusion therapy, FANGO detox therapy, and biocharger
- Specialty testing, including RGCC CTC testing and tumor markers
Patients can expect a thorough evaluation of their current health status and an individualized plan that works synergistically with whatever conventional modalities they may be using or plan to use. I have patients who use every plan: chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, or other, and patients who do not want to use any conventional therapies. Naturopathic oncology modalities that work independently as well as synergistically with conventional modalities are available.
I have walked the long path as a cancer patient and now live the long life as a cancer survivor, understanding the experiences my patients go through at all milestones of the journey. Living with cancer is living with a trauma that is only known by those who have experienced it, and that is what sets me apart from other practitioners in the oncology healthcare field.
I plan to continue to incorporate researched targeted nutrients and modalities that kill cancer cells and expand the scope and standard of cancer care. It is my hope that people living with cancer will be treated as thriving individuals with quality of life as they undergo therapies that eliminate cancer cells. I want my practice to be a space of healing, not a place of business. Healing comes in all forms – mind, body, and/or spirit. Watching the healing transformation of patients in my care is my greatest blessing.

Dr. Keith Yimoyines, ND, Rivers Wellness
Welcome to Rivers Wellness, the office of Dr. Keith Yimoyines, ND. I have been in practice in Connecticut since 2011 and opened Rivers Wellness in Wethersfield in October 2024. My primary areas of focus are Lyme and tick-borne diseases, complex chronic disease, male and female hormonal imbalances, and digestive concerns. Patients seek me out when they aren’t getting satisfying answers from their other providers.
First and foremost, I treat every patient as an individual. Only when I truly understand a patient’s health goals can we work together to achieve them. I use the most modern, up-to-date laboratory testing, along with patient history, to direct my therapeutic approach, which will include lifestyle counseling (diet, sleep, stress, and exercise), as well as supplement and herbal protocols designed to meet patient goals. Effective follow-up is a cornerstone of a fruitful doctor-patient relationship. It is my goal to make sure what we are doing is working and make tweaks if it is not.
The most rewarding moment in my practice is the simple “thank you” I receive from a patient who had resigned themselves to feeling unwell and is now back to their normal self. There is nothing better than the patient who came in with multiple diagnoses, or no clear diagnosis, six specialists, and a dozen medications, and has now taken their life back after working with me.
I received my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Sonoran University) in Tempe, AZ, after completing my Bachelor of Arts degree at Lehigh University. I live in West Hartford with my wife, Julie, and two sons. I enjoy reading science fiction, listening to music, and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Krav Maga.

Dr. Kelly Livingston, ND, Roots Deep Medicine, LLC
At Roots Deep Medicine, I help women elevate their health so they can realize their potential. My signature approach integrates precise laboratory diagnostics and naturopathic protocols with heart-centered therapies to regulate the nervous system, helping women heal deeply in body, mind, and spirit.
I’m a naturopathic physician, speaker, and industry leader in gut–brain health and nervous system regulation. I specialize in helping women on the verge of perimenopause or menopause recover from chronic stress so they can feel strong in their bodies, clear in their minds, and alive in their souls.
My journey into naturopathic medicine began with a degree in psychology and philosophy. I always knew I wanted to explore how humans heal. When confronted with my own health struggles – unexplained fatigue, hormone imbalances, and a dysregulated stress response – I worked with my own ND. Through root-cause medicine, I found healing and knew I wanted to empower others with the same approach. In over twenty years in health and wellness, I’ve learned that most illness stems from nervous system dysregulation. My Vital Spirit Method integrates science with holistic therapeutics to help women restore balance.
One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a long-time patient who was reflecting on her decade-long healing journey. Through personalized care, she transformed not only her health but also her confidence and overall well-being. Witnessing patients reclaim their vitality fuels my passion for this work.
Looking ahead, I’m expanding The Vital Spirit Method, a structured approach that blends functional medicine, nervous system regulation, and holistic healing. I also launched The Vital Spirit Podcast, where I explore psychology, trauma-informed polyvagal theory, and naturopathic medicine to support lasting wellness.
As a naturopathic physician, I combine cutting-edge science with compassionate care. Healing isn’t just about lab results – it’s about feeling heard and having a safe space to heal. Since founding Roots Deep Medicine Clinic in 2013, I have continued to evolve alongside my patients, bringing everything I learn back into my practice.
In my personal life, I am a single mom to my nine-year-old daughter. I live what I teach, knowing that a regulated nervous system and aligned habits are key to true vitality. My favorite hobby is yoga, and my favorite places to travel so far are Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, Northern Nicaragua, Negril, Jamaica, and Sedona, Arizona. A fun fact from my life is the topic of my doctoral thesis – before plant medicine was all the rage, I wrote my thesis on psychedelics and entheogens in the therapeutic setting, and I continue to research safe integration and setting when considering this tool in the healing process.
It is my passion to educate and empower patients. When given the right tools and support, the body knows how to heal. Every day, I am humbled by the healing I witness – it is my greatest honor to guide others in becoming fully human and deeply healed.

Dr. Ceylon Cicero, ND, Natural Practices, LLC
Welcome to Natural Practices – a place where true health care exists. I am Dr. Ceylon Cicero, a board-certified naturopathic physician, owner, and practicing physician at Natural Practices, located in West Hartford, CT, in the Bishops Corner area.
I earned my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport, College of Naturopathic Medicine, in 2003. I have been practicing for over twenty years, and my focus is on individualized care, root cause, and full-body healing while helping patients understand why they are doing what they are doing and how to prevent imbalances in the future.
My office provides a safe space for patients five years old and older to feel heard and cared for completely – mind, body, and spirit. Although I do not specialize in one area, I treat all ailments, acute and chronic, seeing patients with gastrointestinal issues as well as chronic inflammatory imbalances, including Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases, coinfections, autoimmune conditions, hormonal imbalances, and metabolic imbalances.
My passion is making true healthcare available to all by helping patients’ bodies help heal themselves. I believe it is important to meet patients where they are and help guide them to their optimal goals and balance. Naturopathic physicians are trained in many modalities, and I use a variety of them in my practice, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, nutritional counseling, hydrotherapy, and far-infrared saunas and ionic detox footbaths.
The world is full of so much heaviness and toxicity everywhere we turn. Join me one Saturday or Sunday every month for a full-body detox clinic day to release toxins and lighten your load – three services for one hour of your time! Call the office for more details.
